Hey Suz. If you're employer contributes then in the long run you're probably going to be OK with your 401K provided your not in any banking or techology stocks. If your company does not contribute then you might want to consider opening an account with a company like etrade or Ameritrade and starting an IRA for you and or Steve (separate allows you to invest more $$). If you go with a regular IRA you can invest from your income as pre-tax or, if you're a bit cocky and believe you can do well more...

If you go with a regular IRA you can invest from your income as pre-tax or, if you're a bit cocky and believe you can do well between now and retirement, or don't believe the pre-tax savings is sufficient to offset your capital gains at retirement, then you might consider a ROTH IRA. Just a thought. Hope your campfires weren't filled with too many farts ;- ) less...
I got frustrated with them about 5 years ago. Stopped putting anything in it and in two years before changing jobs I lost most of it to service charges. I lost over 5k in two years. Now I put it into a regular savings pay taxes right away on it and can get to it any time I see fit. Can't trust the gov to take care or the brokers to take care of it. If they are so good why do they need my money to lose.
